People have been breeding Cockapoos since the late 1940's to began to be bred
purposely in the early 1950's.
They are a cross between an American Cocker Spaniel and an Poodle. ;Most people generally use the Toy or Miniature Poodle. The Cockapoo is a very intelligent sort of animal in that has the keen since of the Cocker Spaniel while also having the quick alertness of the Poodle. They are warm and affectionate, full of energy and love to be with people.
They are also very loyal to their owners.Cockapoos are the perfect pet for those who have allergies as well. They are low to no shedding and don't have the issues with dander like you find with other dogs. Thus making it more susceptible for people with allergies to have that pet they always wanted.
Cockapoos coat texture and size....Cockapoos generally have a rather curly texture to their coat, more so than the Cocker Spaniel but usually not as curly as the Poodle, Some puppies have a straighter coat like the Cocker Spaniel . They can range anywhere from smallest being 8 - 15 lbs. to larger being 18 - 25 lbs.;Some can
get as big as 30 - 35 lbs. Some can also remain shorter than others while actually weighing more than their counterparts while a taller Cockapoo
may weigh less than the shorter Cockapoo. Size has a lot to do with bone structure. Whether they tend to be big boned or smaller boned
can make their weight higher or lower. And yes, diet can play a big role too. A good diet is very important.Cockapoos life expectancy can
be as long as 15+ years if properly taken care of.If you are thinking about getting a Cockapoo as your next family pet you should also know
that it is important, as with any pet,to keep them clean and well groomed. Keep the hair around their eyes trimmed so not to interfere with
their eye sight. Clip all areas that can become matted such as under their arm pits, the tail area, and their ears. You can learn to groom your cockapoo yourself or ask your friends who have dogs to recommend a good groomer.I highly recommend that you do all the research
you can. The more you know about the Cockapoo the easier it will be for you to decide if this is the right pet for you.;As with any pet though, lots of love and affection, regular vet checks, and keeping them groomed will keep your pet your buddy for years to come.
